BRISBANE, Australia — September 2026 — Art and environmental advocacy came together in Brisbane through the donation of “Haribon: Voice of the Forest,” an original artwork by Filipino international folk artist Amangpintor (Elito Villaflor Circa).

The artist expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Philippine Consulate in Brisbane, under the leadership of Honorary Consul Atty. Sheryll Gabutero, for supporting the meaningful presentation of Filipino art and culture. The artwork was also presented together with Edwardson Justo, who was part of the occasion surrounding the donated painting.

Measuring 24 × 32 inches, the artwork is an acrylic painting on canvas created using Amangpintor's distinctive Palm, Fingers and Nails Technique. The painting features the Philippine eagle, or Haribon, standing proudly over a peaceful forest landscape illuminated by the warm light of sunrise.

The Philippine eagle, the country's national bird and one of the world's critically endangered raptors, serves as the central symbol of the artwork. In the painting, the majestic bird represents strength, wisdom, and resilience, while its position overlooking the forest portrays it as a guardian of the country's remaining natural habitats.

The flowing stream, towering trees, and distant mountains complete the landscape, emphasizing the connection between wildlife and the ecosystems that sustain them.

For Amangpintor, the artwork is more than a landscape painting. It carries a message about the importance of protecting forests, conserving biodiversity, and preserving the country's natural heritage for future generations.

As the founder of the Indigenouism Art movement, Amangpintor incorporates environmental advocacy into his creative work. His approach promotes the use of indigenous and locally available materials while encouraging greater awareness of environmental protection.

The tactile Palm, Fingers and Nails Technique also reflects his personal approach to connecting the artist directly with the canvas. Rather than depending entirely on conventional brushes, his hands become important tools in creating texture, movement, and emotion.
